The Galactic Empire, threatened by the spreading rebellion, built a superweapon capable of destroying entire planets. Jyn Erso, daughter to the scientist who devised this weapon, is freed from prison by rebels and hired to find her father. In an act of defiance he had installed a weakness in the system of the Death Star. Jyn and the Rogue One squad start out to find a way to exploit this weakness before the horrific weapon can be employed.
