Inspired by his idol Buddy Rich the young and talented Andrew wants to become the best jazz drummer. To make his dream come true, he devotes himself to Terence Fletcher a prestigious but tyrannic professor at his music academy, who pushes him until his fingers are bleeding. While getting close to his objective, one day he arrives too late for an important concert due to a self-induced accident.
