Los Angeles, 1969: Actor Rick Dalton, who became famous with a Western series in the 1950's, and his driver and stunt double Cliff Booth are discontent with their lives. Since the great days of Western are over, Rick only gets villain roles now (which means being beaten up by younger stars at the end), while Cliff doesn't find any better job as he is rumoured to have murdered his wife. Rick tries to boost his career by making friends with his new neighbors, actress Sharon Tate and her husband Roman Polański.
